This morning my neighbour and I took five kids out to The President’s Kitchen Garden in Attard.  It is one of the best places I know where one can entertain the kids for a couple of hours during our hot summers.  Here they are trying to look good in the pictures 🙂

This place has also some excellent snacks.  After chocolate muffins and ginger breadmen and juices for the kids, and coffees and freshly baked Belgian Chocolate croissants and coffee for the mummies we took this photo.  I admit it was very very tough to get all 5 looking in one direction.

Finally all hot but happy we found our way back to the cars through San Anton Gardens.  At the clock we stopped to watch the giant minute hand moving while counting it’s 60 seconds to the next one.

It came upon us before I could notice. The scholastic year 11/12 had been even more hectic and demanding on me more than I had imagined. The lack of blogging shows just how many free minutes I found to update this space and keep a record of our comings and goings for the girls to read one day.

June was characterised by heat. So the benefit of half days for the girls and myself (one of the major benefits of working as a teacher is that my ‘formal’ working day ends at noon as the girls’ school comes to an end) we spent quite a few afternoons at the beach with other teacher colleagues. Thanks to them I found the courage to take 3 little girls to the beach without my man. Catherine is a still learning how to swim. Maria is nearly there but needs constant watch and Francesca still has no clue how to keep afloat without support.

Here they are ‘dressed up’ as mermaids with decorated tails courtesy of a dear friend and colleague who helped me mind the girls at the beach and who the girls have come to love dearly.

Today was our first full day of Easter holidays.  We are spending the next few days here with my family.  Despite the fact that we’re on holidays both the girls and I were up at the usual time.  My man had seen a feature on a particular site in Gozo that he had never visited and we decided to go there today.  This is a natural rock formation that goes by the name of ‘It-Tieqa ta’ Wied il-Mielah’ or “The window at Salty Valley”.

This is it!

By 9.30am we were on the road.  After a phone call to my journalist friend for directions, a number of stops to ask for directions to different farmers we met on the way, a few detours and numerous track backs, we parked the car where we thought was close enough.

All of us walked for about half a kilometer to the place we thought was it only to be met a steep stairs to a tiny secluded shingle beach.

We had arrived at another valley!  Wied l-Ghasri! (Ghasri Valley)

Equally beautiful!

Walking up the steep stairs and all along the way back to the car, I couldn’t help wondering in how many years would I dare take the girls to the Dolomites for some real trekking!  I couldn’t helping reliving that amazing experience while nearly salivating for the next one planned for some time this coming July.

There is so much to look forward to…in this my life with the 3 princesses. Thank you God for giving them to me.  Please, make me worthy of them.

Figolli April 18, 2011

Gourmet Worrier is the best food (and more) blog there is in my modest opinion.  Now the lady behind it had the great idea to create the “World Figolli Day“.  Joining the group was easy….sticking to the promise less so.  With the 3 princesses wanting to participate in everything, cooking with the three of them is not so simple any more.  But over the last couple of days we managed to make the dough and filling and finally compile the figolli, bake them and decorate them.  It’s not a task for the faint hearted.  But with my man’s full support we have just managed to finish all the batch.  For practicality’s sake, this year we stayed with the heart-shaped figolli.  The recipe is from this guy.  I think it’s one of the best recipes around especially the filling goes out till the edges.  Try it …. you might get hooked.
